NewsDispatchers Providing Rapid, Accurate InformationMonday, November 01, 2010
The Rockland County Fire Chiefs recognize the actions of Brendan Fridhandler and Troy Spong. Brendan and Troy work at the Fire Dispatch Center known as 44 Control.
On November 1, 2010, Brendan received an urgent call stating a resident was trapped along with 5 other people in a burning house. One of which was her paraplegic father. The New City Fire Department issued the following statement: "Due in no small part to the calm, professional and efficient work of these two dispatchers getting rapid, accurate information and above all providing a calming reassurance to a panicked caller, all were able to escape the building (with several forced to jump from second-story windows) before any of New City's units arrived on scene." Congratulations to our own Brendan Fridhandler (Orangeburg's Assistant Engineer and Fire Prevention Officer) and to Troy Spong for doing an excellent job.
