Matthew Duffy Obituary

We are heartbroken over the sudden loss of Matthew M. Duffy, loving husband to Tracie (Bow) and loving father to Samantha and Jordan. He is survived by his loving siblings Owen (Christine), Maura Ryan (Glen), Alice Lynady (Neil), Kevin (Donna) and Hugh (Maria), sister-in-law Joan, Mother-in-law Dolores Bow, brother-in-law James Bow as well as beloved nieces & nephews, Theresa, Catherine, Jennifer, Jessica, Conor, Aaron, Grace, Kaitlin, Bridget & Emily. He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent & Winnefred Duffy and his brother Brian & Father-in-law James Bow and sister-in-law Diane Bow.

Matt worked as the Deputy Director of Plant Facilities at Rockland Psychiatric Center for 37 years before retiring in 2021. After retirement he, of course, worked for Peter Brega as a school bus driver for the Nyack school district because if you knew Matt, he was always great with kids.

He was an active life member of the Orangeburg Fire Department for 42 years. He was a member & currently the President of Brookside Game Protective Association.

Matt will be fondly remembered for finding the craziest, unique gifts (wiggly wiggly man, carved skulls), and funny Facebook memes. He was always ready for adventures & fun. Matt loved traveling & spending time with family & friends. He was also the kindest, warmest man with the sickest sense of humor. When things were going sideways Matt was the solid rock you could rely on.

Visitation will be Tuesday 4/30/24 4pm – 8pm at Wyman Fisher Funeral Home.

Firematic service will be 7pm Tuesday 4/30

Funeral Wednesday 5/1/24 10am St Catherine’s Church, Blauvelt burial to follow at Rockland Cemetery
