Damien Amadi and Emanuel "Manny" Pimentel finished their Firefighter 1 Course at the Rockland County Fire Training Center in Pomona on Friday, July 13th. The NYS Firefighter 1 Course is close to eighty hours of lecture and hands on training. The summer course is an accelerated course where the students are in class all day, several days a week and on the weekends. The course is over within three weeks - short but very intense.

On the last day of training the recruits do their final "Live Burn" in the Burn Building and Orangeburg was well represented. Captain John Ahlf was one of the instructors and our 11-Tower was used along with New City's engine. Thankfully the humidity had lessened but it still was a hot morning.

Congratulations to our newest "Brother Firefighters" Manny and Damien!!!
