STAC had reached out to the Sparkill VFD to allow them to use the building for some intense training prior to demolishing the building. Saprkill offered the building to use for use as well. On Thursday evening the volunteers practiced VES (Vent, Entry, Search) techniques, forcible entry and advancing hand lines to the upper floors. Sunday morning the volunteers practiced forcible entry and entry to the building via the tower ladder. In all the volunteers spent about six hours of hands on training. This unique experience increased our knowledge tremendously and gave excellent exposure to our newer firefighters. We appreciate STAC for allowing the use of the building by the fire service and especially to the Sparkill VFD for inviting us to join with them on this rare opportunity.

It looked like everyone had a great time and we appreciate your support as we do this for you and your families. We had some special guests again this year: Santa, Mrs. Clause and their elves showed up to the amazement of the children. We thank them for taking the time out of their busy schedule for the Orangeburg Volunteer Fire Department. We look forward to having you all at next year’s parade. A special thanks to all the fire companies that come out to share in this great event.
